Access FIREFLY Services

Here at FIREFLY our Centralized Intake processes referrals for the wide range of programs and services we offer throughout the Kenora and Rainy River Districts.

Services can be accessed for children and youth from birth until the age of 18, or up to the age of 21 if they are in school and living in Ontario.

If you are looking for a specific program or you know what you or the child you are referring requires, please click on one of the buttons below to start the referral process or call Centralized Intake at 1-833-696-5437 – toll free, or e-mail us at [email protected]. Parent/Caregiver Referrals

Mental Health Services

If you are the parent or caregiver of a child or youth (up to age 18) and would like to access Mental Health Services, complete the CYMH Online Referral Form below.

If you complete the online referral form and you have not heard back from FIREFLY within 48 business hours (Monday-Friday 8:30 AM-4:30 PM), please call our Centralized Intake number: 1-833-696-5437.

Developmental Services

If you are the parent or caregiver of a child or youth (up to age 18) and would like to access developmental services such as Physiotherapy, Speech-Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, etc. please click on the link below to complete our online General Referral Form. If you are concerned about your child’s development but don’t know what help you need, please complete the General Referral Form and we will reach out to have a conversation about how we can support your family. To help with the referral, please include any documents that explain the child or youth’s needs. You can also fill out the service request screeners found below and email them to [email protected].

Self Referral

Mental Health Services

If you are a youth (up to age 18) and would like to access Mental Health Services, complete the Mental Health Self Referral Form below:

Mental Health Services

If you are a Mental Health staff member at the Kenora Catholic District School Board or The Northwest Catholic District School Board, please click the “Ocean Referral” button below to complete the referral form.

All other school staff,  community members, or third-party professionals supporting a child or youth (up to age 18) can assist the capable child or youth in referring to our Mental Health Services through the Mental Health Online Referral Form below:

If you are a community member, school staff, or third-party professional supporting a child or youth (up to age 18) and would like to refer them to developmental services such as Physiotherapy, Speech-Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, etc. please click on the link below to complete our online General Referral Form. Unsure of where to start? SmartStart!

Worried about your child’s development but unsure where to start? We’re here to help!

FIREFLY is one of Ontario’s SmartStart Hubs, a service available to families with children from birth to 18 years old. Children aged 19-21 who attend publicly funded schools can also access SmartStart Hub services.

The SmartStart Hub offered through Centralized Intake is designed for families who are concerned about their child’s development and: 

  • Are unsure about their child’s developmental needs 
  • Don’t know which services to seek, what they may be eligible for, or how to access them 
  • Would benefit from discussing their child’s strengths, needs, and development, getting referrals to appropriate services, and accessing family education and support.
