The Residential Placement Advisory Committee
FIREFLY coordinates the Residential Placement Advisory Committee service on behalf of the Ministry of Children and Youth Services, covering all regions extending from the Manitoba border eastward to the Greater Sudbury area.
RPAC is a mandated service under the Child and Family Services Act, designed to ensure that all clients in residential care are being well served. RPAC reviews placements of all children or youth living in a facility of 10 or more beds for a period 90 days or greater. RPAC also reviews the appropriateness of placements for any child over 12 years of age who objects to their placement.
Our goal is to advise parents, youth and service providers about their placement and what alternatives are available in order to improve social supports for at-risk children and youth.
